Weeks 3's assignment.

Thanks to the lovely Elizabeth for being a great model (she is my six year old niece).
For this first shot I chose to concentrate on simplicilty. I tried for no distractions, and a simple background using the backlight from my bedroom window on a gorgeous morning with light covers on my bed. I liked this peek a boo style, the model preferred the full face version I took of this. Perhaps I should have had the top of her head in the shot. I am also every so slight off centre.

The next one is overexposed I know but for some reason I really like it. I took this one looking at both texture and simplicity.
This third was just focusing on texture. I really like the peeling bark on the tree we have in our front garden.
I also like the fact Elizabeth fits so well in the tree. I like the light, i am not so sure about the posistion I am in and maybe should have been a bit lower rather than just on her level.
Is it really the last week next week? Golly, enjoy everyone ;-)

Week 2- What a week

It rained here this week and I promised DD next time it rained she could go splashing in puddles. I thought this was a good time to have a go at implied motion. It took a couple of tries with different settings but got a few okay ones.
For the above shot I was trying to focus on the small details of what was happening and decided to not have a full body picture. I also chose to keep Dolly in the picture as I thought it was cute and DD was making Dolly jump in puddles as well.

What can I say about this shot except it is not at all what I had planned. For the frozen image I did and still do have a particular shot I want  to achieve with DD however she became ill and I was not able to get it so poor Emily (the doll) is my subject. It is a very basic shot and I will hopefully submit the shot I wanted to do in the catch up week.
Okay so Panning is not going to be my forte but I gave it ago anyway. It was raining when I did this so there is rain on the lens (which looks silly) I think I was moving too fast so the car is blurred at the front and  I did not move straight so my image is not straight. I tried using the tripod but it did not work for me. Suffice to say I don;t think Panning is my thing :-)

Unrelated to the assignment- below are some images I am happy with which I took this week. Feedback always welcome.

Week 1 here we come

For week one I went down to a paddock near my Mum and Dads house ( while they looked after little one). I went there in the early evening at about 4pm. It is Autumn here now so the light was fading fairly quickly I felt.

I did the tasks in order for some reason- maybe it was just the way I remembered them.

I found this tree which I loved the look of. I have to say I am not convinced it makes a good landscape photograph. On that note,  I noticed I was not as excited about doing this task because it was landscape, I much prefer family photography.
I thought about not placing the tree in the centre of the photo but decided to do it for several reasons:
1- I loved how the clouds were forming in this shot.
2- There were power lines I was trying to avoid in the shot
3- Well I can't remember now but I know at the time there was a three.
For this task I chose to also do it at the same place. I found this task easier than the above one for some reason, Not sure why.

For the final task for the week I chose to use the dog as a subject. I have to say it was hard keeping her still.

This has nothing to do with the tasks for the week however I am looking for opinions on some work I did this weekend. I am partially taking this course to see if I have any talent in doing family photography and start to set up a portfolio with a view to a business. Good friends of my husband and mine agreed to be subjects for me. Stacey was a trooper considering she is having awful morning sickness at the moment.
